Our need

The Project Manager is a client-facing project management role, responsible for project governance, commercial management, as well as client and third party project communications, engagement and expectation management. We are looking for someone who is professional, reliable, and pays attention to detail. Most importantly, we seek a team player with the ability to accomplish results as a team leader and as an individual contributor.  

Responsibilities and duties

The Project Manager is primarily accountable for project success through the following areas

Project Management

  • Manages client education using input from client readiness assessment
  • Applies eCommerce functional knowledge and platform expertise to affect project success
  • Manages day-to-day communications and expectations to ensure project success
  • Facilitates regular status meetings via phone, video chat, and in-person meetings
  • Partners with Solutions Delivery leadership to create project plan; maintains and executes project plans
  • Collaborates with internal teams, third parties and client stakeholders to ensure activities are planned and executed in a timely manner in accordance with project schedule; creatively solves problems and brainstorms solutions; communicates difficult information timely and tactfully
  • Controls quality by reviewing deliverables prior to client presentation; enhances deliverables as needed; suggests process improvements when appropriate, ensures final acceptance
  • Maintains communication and escalation paths internally across all departments as necessary
  • Keeps platform partners apprised of project status, risks, issues, and needs from platform teams

 

Project Governance, Risk and Issue Management

  • Manages risk, threats, opportunities, and associated mitigation plans that could impact the success of the project; notifying internal and external stakeholders and escalating when appropriate
  • Catalogs lessons learned and ensures post-mortem data is utilized for process improvement
  • Ensures project governance documents exist, are maintained, and are shared appropriately (e.g. change request log, project risk register, and project status reports)
  • Holds internal team, client and third parties accountable to documented and communicated project dependencies

 

Commercial Management

  • Understands what has been sold, what Blue Acorn is responsible for delivering, and ensures the delivery of those commitments
  • Overall accountability for project gross margin and management of client budget
  • Manages change requests for all scope, schedule, or budget changes
  • Briefs project team on contractual and commercial terms
  • Liaisons with PMO for client invoicing and accounts receivable needs

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelors degree in a business-related field such as Business Administration, Management, Information Systems, Marketing
  • 3+ years experience in a project management role in the technology space
  • Project management (including risk, issue, dependency, process, and milestone management)
  • Demonstrated leadership, relationship-building, teamwork, and collaboration skills
  • Cross-functional team and people management
  • Budget and financial management including profit/loss, billing, and earned value management
  • Experience managing client and other third party relationships
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to translate between technical and non-technical people
  • Ability to identify innovative ways to implement projects within established timeframes
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
  • Coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, and negotiation abilities

  • Experience managing complex web development projects 
  • Experience working in the eCommerce industry
  • Experience with Magento and Salesforce Commerce Cloud (Demandware), or Shopify platforms
